In the 19th century, while travelling the world in search of rare goods, a Swiss trader landed in Jamaica and fell under the spell of the local rum. Upon returning to Europe, in 1889 he founded the Basel Rum Company, which would give its name to the CORUBA brand. Since 1962, although the rums are produced by J.Wray & Nephew Jamaica, the blending and bottling are carried out in Switzerland.
