Historically developed in Europe in the 18th century, bitters, often made from plants, were popularized in the 19th century in the United States by apothecaries who sold them as remedies with questionable properties. However, like many elixirs of the time, bitters gradually took on a recreational aspect to become ingredients for cocktails. In 1864, the Fee brothers founded their company. They started their production in 1951 with the “Old Fashion bitter”. Fee Brothers is today the favorite brand of bartenders around the world with a range of more than 15 perfumes, including two new in 2020.
