Ancient Dutch and then English colony, Guyana is a country as large as England composed of fertile land with rivers, waterfalls and coves, with an ideal climate for the cultivation of sugar cane.

In 1670, more than 300 farmer-distillers joined forces in a cooperative in Guyana to create Demerara Distillers. This rich heritage has been preserved, the Plantation Diamond distillery is still producing rums in historic pot stills and columns, some of which are made of wood.
