Miller Crabbie started his trading activity in Edinburgh (Scotland) in 1801. His son John developed the business by acquiring a brewery in Leith, then used as the basis for the development of the whisky blending activity. Other acquisitions followed and in October 1885, John Crabbie became the first President of the North British Distillery. In 1963, the company was sold to DCL, then to McDonald and Muir (which became Glenmorangie), before being part of Halewood International group in 2007.
